More Medical funkiness...

Feb. 3rd, 2009 | 12:34 pm

Surgeons removed a woman's kidney through her vagina so she could give it to her ailing niece,an unusual operation they hope will encourage others to donate because it reduces pain, scarring and recovery time. Doctors at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine said donor Kimberly Johnson, 48, and her niece, Jennifer Gilbert, 23, were both doing well following operations Thursday.

Roget Ebert's "Thumbs Down" to Ben Stien...

Dec. 4th, 2008 | 01:30 pm

"He takes a field trip to visit one "result" of Darwinism: Nazi concentration camps. "As a Jew," he says, "I wanted to see for myself." We see footage of gaunt, skeletal prisoners. Pathetic children. A mound of naked Jewish corpses. "It's difficult to describe how it felt to walk through such a haunting place," he says. Oh, go ahead, Ben Stein. Describe. It filled you with hatred for Charles Darwin and his followers, who represent the overwhelming majority of educated people in every nation on earth. It is not difficult for me to describe how you made me feel by exploiting the deaths of millions of Jews in support of your argument for a peripheral Christian belief. It fills me with contempt."

Men on Men...

Nov. 7th, 2008 | 11:04 am

Sorry this isn't a Yaoi post.  An interesting new study is showing that while images of "perfect" women make other women feel self-conscious, the same does not hold true for men.  Men seemed laregly unphazed by images of "perfect" men.  In fact... images of "perfect" women make men feel more self-concious.
In her research, which will be published in Human Communication Research, Aubrey found that the cultural expectation for men is not that they have to be as attractive as their peers, but that they need to be attractive enough to be sexually appealing to women.

Kind interesting.  It reminds me of a friend whom i've never known to care as much about how they looked at work, putting extra effort into getting ready because of the "hot" people at their new workplace.

Boom! Head Shot!

or...

Makes me glad i suck at video games...

Scientist believe that a gene that controls serotonin might have an affect on premature ejaculation.  Seems that gene might also lead to faster reflexes:
"These men have very quick reflexes. They may be excellent at playing tennis or computer games, for example."

So.. i guess there really are lovers and fighters...

More Ranting: Stop pretending Religion is Science

Aug. 14th, 2008 | 09:58 am

Judge says UC can deny religious course credit

You know, i support people's rights to have religious beliefs.  I think the moral and peer support that some churches offer are helpful to many.  What i really hate is when religion wants to interfere with government or when religion wants to pretend to be a science.

In other words... These Universities have a responsibility for teaching Science in their science classes.  If you don't like that, go to another school that does pretend that the Bible is the litteral end all for all historical and scientific fact.

More on Female sexuality

Jun. 25th, 2008 | 08:23 am

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/12/fashion/12bisex.html?_r=3&ref=fashion&oref=slogin&oref=slogin&oref=slogin

“Women physically don’t seem to differentiate between genders in their sex responses, at least heterosexual women don’t,” she said. “For heterosexual women, gender didn’t matter. They responded to the level of activity.”

Dr. Chivers’s work adds to a growing body of scientific evidence that places female sexuality along a continuum between heterosexuality and homosexuality, rather than as an either-or phenomenon.

Kinda interesting this stuff.  Cause it always seemed like male and female sexuality were really different beasts.
