Luckily the Baby was not charged...

World's unlunkiest person?

Mar. 24th, 2009 | 12:11 pm

Or toughest man in the world...

Tsutomu Yamaguchi was on a business trip in in Hiroshima on August 6th... 1945.  I'm guessing you don't have to be a history buff to know the significance of that.  Anyhow, after suffering some serious burns, he left the city and went back home... to Nagasaki...

Feb. 9th, 2009 | 10:54 pm

Here's a post on an on line community(Guess the state):

3 posts down, a reply:
Disclaimer - this is assuming you were the moron racing on John Young past Walmart (near the roadside crosses where those 3 girls were killed in a street racing crash). If not, then I had someone just as idiotic do the same thing.

You just don't understand a break when I give you one. Please take me to court so I can print this out and show the judge.

Conflict of Interest much?

Jan. 30th, 2009 | 01:05 pm

Denver continues to use red light cameras even after the vendor fails to provide evidence that they are accurate enough. Is it any wonder that the people who get money from these gadgets might have no interest in ensuring they don't generate false positives?

And here's the best part:
"The Rocky Mountain News points out, however, that the Denver police's own data shows that it's not the cameras that are improving safety, but rather lengthening yellow light times. The city agreed last summer to experiment with lengthening yellow lights by one or two seconds at a handful of locations and found that violations went down significantly—the daily average dropped to 9, 10, and 16 violations at the different lights, down from 125 violations between the three when the yellow lights were the legal minimum of 3 seconds."

A moral here is the public needs to be amore aware and hold our politicians to the fire when they start enacting money generation schemes in the guise of public safety. the article also sights a BBC study that showed how inaccurate laser speed guns can be too. That's a personal pet peeve of mine.

Boy Scouts turn to cutting down trees to make up for lost contributions...

Some Choice Quotes:
"People talk about what a bad, evil, horrible thing it is to cut a tree," said Tim McCandless, executive for the Spokane-based Inland Northwest Council. "But our mission is kids, not trees."

In some cases, councils have sought to use revenues from logging or land sales to make up for funding lost because of the organization's controversial bans on gays and atheists from membership and employment rolls.
"The Boy Scouts had to suffer the consequences for sticking by their moral values," said Eugene Grant, president of the Portland-based Cascade Pacific Council's board of directors.

"Yet while financial rewards to help boost shrinking funds or cover needed maintenance were cited as a frequent factor for logging, many Scouting executives at the same time earned high salaries and yearly pay raises that outpaced cost-of-living increases, records show.
Local and regional executives can earn annual compensation of $100,000 to $300,000 per year. At the national level, Scouting executives m
ake even more."

Porn Industry seeks a Financial Injection from the Fedral government.

Jan. 9th, 2009 | 08:04 am

In an announcement that launched a thousand unprintable puns, adult-entertainment moguls Larry Flynt and Joe Francis said Wednesday that they are asking Washington for a $5 billion federal bailout, claiming that the porn business is suffering from the soft economy.

I guess a good money shot might be just what they need.  Man this article would just write itself!
